Michelle Dundass & Patrick McLoughlin are old friends from Galway, both now living in London, who came together for the first time in several years to show their support for the same-sex marriage referendum. Both Michelle & Patrick say they would be more likely to move home if their right to marry was recognised, like it is in England.
“Being Irish and gay in London gives me rights that my gay friends back home don’t have. If I decide to move home with the person I love, I don’t feel we’ll have the same rights. It’s really important to me that we’ll have those rights.
“I want to be able to move back to a country that has equality and inclusiveness ingrained into the Constitution. A lot of my friends are now getting married but I don’t feel I have that opportunity because I’m gay. If people vote yes it would help things immensely.”
