Katie Murphy is 31 year old hairdresser from Tramore, Co Waterford. She’s voting yes because she has witnessed the inequality faced by her younger brother Peter because he is gay. As she says herself – this inequality must end and marriage equality is a step towards that. She will have “the great honour of marrying the man I love” this year and she wants her brother to have the choice to do the same some day. To Katie, his love is no less than hers.

“My wedding is going to be on May 21st – the day before the referendum. I truly wish that my brother could have the same opportunity as me to get married in Ireland, without judgment or discrimination. The day after the wedding we are all going to vote, and we’re voting YES. I want everybody to vote yes.”
