Irene and Sean Wilson are from Kilkenny and have been married for 39 years. They want each of their three children to be treated the same before the law, and ask all voters to think of the consequences of their vote for young gay people now and in the future.
“[This vote] is not only a chance to make marriage equally available to all, but it is also a chance to make Ireland a more tolerant and inclusive society. We ask everyone to think of the gay youth out there now, many of whom do not feel able to openly be who they are and think of the message that a yes vote would send to them. We ask everyone to think of their children and grandchildren – isn’t this more tolerant society something we would want for them, whoever they grow up to be?”
