Gerard Lovett is a publican from Kilnaleck, Co. Cavan. His idea was an inspired one – he asked as many of his straight friends as possible to feature in his video. He knows this referendum won’t pass unless yes voters ask their friends and family to join with them and vote yes too.

“We’re going to need all our straight friends and family to vote for marriage equality, so I thought it might be a good idea to ask them. I put a post up on Facebook asking my friends to volunteer and I was delighted with the number of people who offered to do clips for me, a couple of people even sent them from Brisbane and San Francisco!”
