Diarmuid Fitzgerald is from Dublin. In his video, he discusses what equal marriage would mean to him personally and to his family, and he touches on the effect that a yes vote would have in tackling the homophobia that is still commonplace in Ireland.
“Three years ago my brother asked me to best man at his wedding. I would like him to do the same for me, but right now that can’t happen in Ireland…. We need to root out homophobia in Irish society, and one way to do this is to affirm the love and the value that same-sex couples have for each other. You can do this by voting yes on May 22nd.”
