Breda and Gerry Kinahan are from Dromiskin in Co Louth. They will be voting yes in the equal marriage referendum, not just so that their son can have the same civil rights as the rest of their children, but because they are proud of Ireland’s great tradition of fighting for civil rights both here and abroad.
“As Irish people I’ve always found that we are proud and espouse civil rights all throughout the world. Civil rights in the north of Ireland, we all wanted to back it. We wanted to support and be involved with Madiba in South Africa for civil rights. We wanted to support Martin Luther King for civil rights. This is no different.”
