Is as Gaeltacht Thír Chonaill ó dúchais Kathleen Sharkey, agus insíonn sí dúinn anseo cén fáth a bhfuil sí ag vótáil Tá ar an 22ú Bealtaine, mar aon le cé chomh tábhachtach is atá an lá seo dí féin agus dá muíntir. Tá mac aige atá aerach, agus de bharr gur clann Dé muid uile, creideann sí gur cheart atá sé na cearta céanna a bheith ag mac is aicí a rogha duine a phósadh agus é i ngrá leo. Bhí dearthair aicí freisin a bhí aerach, ach mar thoradh ar an faitíos a bhí air roimh easpa inghlachthachta, tháinig an galar dubh air agus chuir sé lámh ina bhás fhéin blian go leith ó shin. Creideann sí go láidir dá mbeadh rudaí difriúil agus dá mbeadh cead ag Antoin an té go raibh grá aige dó a phósadh, gach seans go mbeadh sé fós linn inniú.
Tá Kathleen ag vótáil Tá ar an 22ú Bealtaine ar mhaithe ár bpáistí uile agus súil aicí go vótáilfidh sibhse leí ar an lá freisin.
A Donegal Gaeltacht native, Kathleen Sharkey tells us why she is voting yes on May 22nd and how important this day is for her and her family. She has a son who is gay, and because we are all God’s children, she believes that he should have the right to marry the person he loves. Kathleen also had a brother who was gay, but because of fear of not being accepted, he became ill and lost his life to suicide a year and a half ago. She believes that if things had been different and her brother Antoin had been able to marry the person he loves, he might still be with her today.
Kathleen is voting YES on May 22nd for all our children and hopes that you will vote with her on the day as well.
