Padraic Fleming, from Westmeath, and Gary Rooney, from Sligo, live in Dublin and entered a civil partnership on the 11th of April 2014. Having grown up in Ireland during the 80’s and 90’s, they are thrilled that Ireland is such an open, safe and accepting nation in 2015. They are also thrilled to be on the right side of history as they hope Ireland will vote yes on May 22nd.
“We got married last year, except we had to sign a civil partnership certificate instead of a marriage certificate – a marriage certificate that would recognise us as equal citizens. It would also recognise us as the strong, stable, committed family unit that we are.”
“Passing this referendum would send a powerful message that this Republic cherishes and protects all its children equally.”
